Impact of Production Variability on Balanced Mix Design in Virginia

Project No: 116425

Target Completion Date: April 30, 2022 Pavements

About the project:

The objective of this research project is to assess the influence of production variability on the performance test responses of asphalt mixtures. These results will influence asphalt mixtures from design through production, as variability is an important consideration throughout the process for both producers and agencies. Plant produced mixtures will be reproduced in the laboratory according to the approved Job Mix Formula (JMF) as well as at the upper and lower plant tolerances for gradation and asphalt binder content to assess the impact of production tolerances.
