This manual was undertaken to record for all persons wishing to do concrete petrography the petrographic procedures that have been found useful here at the Virginia Transportation Research Council. This interim report is made up of the introduction, reading list, sections on sample preparation, and suggestions for further research. The final manual will also include sections on selection and collection of specimens, specimen preparation, use of various microscopes, aggregate, determination of the air void parameters, shrinkage cracking, water/cement ratio, retempering, and alkali-aggregate reactions.
