Use of Micro-Deval Test for Virginia Aggregates

Project No: 78698

Target Completion Date: April 30, 2007 Structures

About the project:

The proposed study will evaluate the Micro-Deval test as an alternative or supplement to the magnesium sulfate soundness test for aggregate quality monitoring in Virginia. The specification limits for quality monitoring program could be established based on local experience or through any correlation that might have existed between Micro-Deval and magnesium sulfate soundness for Virginia aggregates to be used in the pavement construction. Both fine and coarse aggregate will be considered for evaluation. This study will facilitate the implementation of Micro-Deval test as an aggregate quality control tool.
