High-Performance Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements in Richlands and Lynchburg, Virginia

Project No: 54177

Target Completion Date: September 17, 2007 Structures

About the project

The objectives of this study are (1) to develop concrete mixes that have low shrinkage and high flexural strength. (2) to assess aggregate particle shape using a video grader; (3) to determine the material properties of high-performance concrete, including compressive strength, flexural strength, elastic modulus, coefficient of thermal expansion, permeability, and drying shrinkage; (4) to continuously monitor the speed of the paver and the frequency of the vibrators; (5) and to investigate the effect of an increased amount of steel on cracking.
