Evaluation of I-64 Jointed Reinforced Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation - Richmond and Hampton Roads Districts

Project No: 78546

Target Completion Date: November 4, 2008 Pavements

About the project:

This study will document and evaluate the performance of three methods used to rehabilitate the jointed reinforced concrete pavement on Interstate 64 between Richmond and Williamsburg. The rehabilitation methods consist of 5" HMA overlay over HMA patching, 3.5" HMA overlay over PCC patching, and PCC patching with diamond grinding.  Methods used to measure the performance of the rehabilitaiton treatments will include survey using video analysis, measurements of surface friction, roughness, and texture, and thickness measurements employing ground-penetrating radar.  The results of this study will be used to prepare recommendations to VDOT regarding suitable methods for future rehabilitaiton of jointed reinforced concrete pavements.
