Characterization of Subgrade and Subbase/Base materials in Virginia for Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design

About the project

Material characterization is an essential part of pavement design procedure. Subgrade characterization will ensure proper foundation support for the pavement. On the other hand, base/subbase materials provide structural capacity to the pavement. Therefore, both subgrade and base/subbase materials characterization is needed to design adequate pavement structure for design traffic.
