Report No: 86-R3

Published in 1985

About the report:

This manual has been prepared to facilitate the use of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) in the bridge inspection program of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation. It briefly discusses the basic principle of GPR, and its application in the nondestructive inspection of bridge decks for delaminations in the reinforced concrete. It then provides guides on the survey procedure, the operation of a microwave radar system, and the interpretation and the qualification of radar results.
