Driver Education Program Status Report: Software System

Report No: 81-R20

Published in 1981

About the report:

In April of 1980, a joint decision between Research Council personnel and representatives of the Department of Education was reached, and a project was undertaken by the Research Council to provide a software system to process the annual Driver Education status report questionnaire. The primary function of this software system is to provide two reports: a summary of the questionnaire responses and a relatively complex report identifying schools involved in, or not involved in, each of ten activities. The secondary function of this system is to provide two files of specific data related to Driver Education used in the preparation of the Annual Highway Safety Plan and the Driver Performance Report. Both of these functions previously were performed by hand, requiring over one man-month of effort with the attendant susceptibility to error. This report describes the Driver Education status report software and serves as the data processing reference material for running the system on the Central Computing Center's IBM 370/145.
