Use of Local Sands on Eastern Shore

Report No: 80-R22

Published in 1979

About the report:

In August 1977, after field installations on Rte. 617 had been in service for 16 years, a performance survey was made. At that time, the road was scheduled for resurfacing. The results showed that the Eastern Shore sands could provide durable, economical asphalt mixes when a small amount of imported filler material was added, and that with the increased use of asphalt emulsions it was probable that the sands would perform well in a cold mix.
