A Study of the Morphology and Sediment Conditions of Ponds Prior to Upstream Highway Construction

Report No: 72-R43

Published in 1973

About the report:

This project involved the development of a scheme for determining whether or not a pond has been affected by upstream highway construction, and if so, to what degree. The project was a "before" phase of a larger study which will investigate the parameters influencing pond siltation. Seven ponds located in the three major physiographic regions of Virginia were studied. The soils in each region are different, as are their erosion and sediment potential.
