Refinement of Moisture Calibration Curves for Nuclear Gage: Interim Report no. 1

Report No: 71-R28

Published in 1972

About the report:

This study was initiated to determine the correct moisture calibration curves for different nuclear gages. It was found that the Troxler Model 227 had a linear response between count ratio and moisture content. Also, the two calibration curves for this gage were best divided by the optimum moisture content of the soil. The separation value of optimum moisture content was 21%. The Troxler Model 2401 was found to need only one calibration curve to produce a standard error of 1.7 pcf.
