Safety Belt and Motorcycle Helmet Use in Virginia: The 2007 Summer Survey

About the project:

This annual survey measures safety belt and motorcycle helmet use among adults and occupants fifteen and under through field observations at sites around the state.  The adult use rates are reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as Virginia’s official use rate.  Then, belt and helmet use rates for adults and belt use rates for both adults and vehicle occupants 6 to 16 are used to evaluate the effectiveness of belt and motorcycle helmet use campaigns as well as changes in legislation and enforcement
