Target Completion Date: February 28, 2020 Structures
Applying data mining, analytics, informatics, and analysis of legacy bridge data warehoused the Virginia Bridge Information Systems Laboratory, this project seeks to gain insights into the impact of geologic, geophysical, and natural hazard factors on the transportation network in order to enhance bridge management practices. The research will be focused on short-term needs brought about by the transition to the AASHTO Bridge management software (BrM). The goal of this research will be to provide strategic support for bridge management in Virginia and to improve structural performance of VDOT bridges through upgraded bridge condition forecasting methods. Specifically, this research will develop environmental parameters for bridge deterioration modeling. The results will be directly implementable within the constraints of BrM.
