Department engineers were surveyed to obtain their opinions on the potential detrimental effects of transverse reflective cracks through the surface course of bituminous pavements and the costs of preventive measures. The majority of respondents (67%) stated that the cracks were only moderately detrimental, and 49% believed no additional cost for preventive measures was warranted.
